Mr. Jarvis of 328, Birchfield Road, was charged with being drunk in charge of a Train Engine, he was fined 20 shillings plus costs or 21 days hard labour.

ACCIDENT TO A NEWSBOY

On Thursday evening a boy newspaper seller, named Hollins, living at 26 Willmore Road, Perry Barr, when awaiting for arrival of some newspapers at Perry Barr Station was, in the rush of passengers, forced down between the train and the platform.  He was at once extricated and on being convey to a surgery in Birchfield Road was found to be somewhat seriously injured.  After receiving medical attention he was conveyed to his house.

Post – October 27th

The Rev. Rees Senior Curate of Oswestry, who approaches marriage to Miss Eva Lloyd, daughter of Colonel and Frances Lloyd was recently announced, has been appointed to the living of Perry Barr by the patron Hon. A. C. G. Calthorpe.  The living is of the £500 per year.  Mr. Rees has consequently resigned post of missionary chaplain to the Bishop of East London to which he appointed was a short time ago.

The vicarage of Perry Barr, near Birmingham (diocese of Lichfield) recently vacant by the de…….. the rev C. B. Snepp LLM has been conferred by the Patron, the Hon A. C. G. Calthorpe, upon the J Rees Senior Curate of Oswestry.  The Rev. who was a member of Jesus College Oxford gained his BA degree in 1871.  He was ordained Deacon the same year, and priest in 1872 by the Bishop Asaph and from 1871 – 1874 he was curate of Berriew in Montgomershire.  In the last named, he took a degree’s as MA.  From Berriew, Mr. Rees proceeded to Oswestry and was later appointed to the Missionary Chaplain, he has later resigned in order to perform his duties at Perry Barr.  The living is valued at £500 per year. 

Shrewsbury Chronicle – 22nd April 1881

Rev. Rees married Miss Eva Lloyd, eldest daughter of Colonel and Lady Frances Lloyd of Aston hall on 21st April 1881.

Tenants of the Aston Estate presented Miss Lloyd with a pianoforte, by Kirkman valued at 70 guineas.  Her brother was absent from this presentation which took place in Aston Hall.  He was a Brigade Major at the Volunteer Review at Brighton.  Miss Lloyd played the piano for the pleasure of the people who presented it to her.  They married at St. Oswald Parish Church at Oswestry.  Her bridesmaids were:- Selina Lloyd, Edith Lloyd, Ada Lloyd, Maude Lloyd, Fanny Gertrude Rees, MR. Leonard Rees was Best Man.  The Wedding Breakfast was held at Aston Hall.  The parishioners of Perry Barr presented them with Silver Spoons and Silver Tongs

During Christmas of 1885, Rev and Mrs Reeves were at Letchworth when the Rev was taken ill.  He was appointed at St. Johns in 1880, but died in 1886.  On Saturday 23rd January the bells were muffled as a token of respect
